Braga 4-0 Feirense; Portimonense 3-1 Setubal
Braga earned a convincing 4-0 victory over Feirense to go joint top of the table, while Portimonense also continued a strong start to the season, disposing of Setubal 3-1.
The standout in the Braga match was no doubt a terrific hattrick from the in-form Dyego Sousa, who found the back of the net in the 27th minute, getting on the end of a glorious over the top ball by Bruno Viana, before using a combination of strength, speed and technique to shrug off the Feirense defence and slot home past Diga.
He got his second of the night just before half time, powering home a header from a Bruno Xadas whipped cross.
He grabbed his third with 22 minutes left on the clock, slotting home from the penalty spot after strike partner Wilson Eduardo was nudged to the floor in the area.
There was even time for a final goal for the hosts, with Wilson Eduardo getting himself in on the action, also converting a penalty to calmly place the ball into the back of the net.
Elsewhere, Portimonense also secured a comfortable victory, with former Porto and Colombia star striker Jackson Martinez getting himself on the scoresheet to continue a promising start to his return to Portugal.
It was captain Jadson who grabbed the first goal of the game though, bundling the ball across the goal-line from a corner in the opening 10 minutes, but Jackson Martinez cam close to quickly extending Portimonense’s lead, striking the crossbar from a beautiful, curling effort after a delightful turn in the box.
Martinez eventually did double the lead on the night though, slotting home powerfully from the edge of the box, striking the ball first time into the bottom right corner.
The sensational Shoya Nakajima was then heavily involved in Portimonense’s third, whipping an inch-perfect cross into the box which Jackson Martinez headed home.
