Portimonense 0-2 Boavista
In what was the final fixture of the first round of the Primeira Liga season, Boavista got the better of last season's surprise package Portimonense, beating them 2-0 in Portimão.
The match was goalless at half time, with Portimonense the side on top, having a few good opportunities to break the deadlock but for some last-ditch defending, but it was Boavista who pulled in front, with David Simao smashing the ball into the back of the net just two minutes after the restart.
Portimonense did press for the equaliser from that point forth and, while Boavista looked dangerous on the counter-attack, earned themselves a penalty in the 70th minute, which Boavista goalkeeper Heton Leite saved, keeping the away side ahead.
Despite the pressure from Portimonense, it was Boavista who scored again, into injury time and wrapping up the match after a tidy lob from Andre Claro, giving Boavista a winning start to the new campaign.
The victory for Boavista meant that not a single match in the first round of league fixtures resulted in a draw, while the Big Four all got off to winning starts.
