Gil Dias leaves Nottingham Forest - and is immediately loaned out to Olympiakos
Gil Dias’ season-long loan to Nottingham Forest has come to a premature end, with the Monaco winger being the latest Portuguese player to head to Olympiakos under fellow Portuguese manager Pedro Martins.
Dias failed to make any significant impact at Nottingham Forest, failing to record a single goal or assist in the Championship during his spell at the club.
He did manage to find the back of the net against Premier League outfit Newcastle United in the EFL Cup, as well as an assist in the same competition against Burton Albion, but failed to live up to expectations in England’s second tier.
He did manage to feature in 21 league games in the time he was at the club, failing to make an appearance for Forest in just 7 of their Championship fixtures, but he had to settle for a bit-part role with the side in general, often coming on off the bench for the closing stages of the games.
Consistency has always been an issue for Dias, on his day an excellent and confident footballer on the wing, but equally often fails to deliver when needed the most.
With Forest changing management and Gil Dias no longer in the club’s plans, he is once again on the move, set for his fifth loan in four seasons as he joins up with several Portuguese players at Olympiakos.
With the trio of Jose Sa, Daniel Podence and Roderick Miranda already at the club, Dias becomes the fourth Portuguese player to make up the Greek giants’ squad.
