Wolves star Diogo Jota set for shock move to English champions Liverpool
Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Diogo Jota is on the verge of completing a move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, set to sign a long-term contract until 2025.
After being left out of Wolves’ squad during their surprise home defeat to Stoke City in the English League Cup, there was widespread speculation regarding his future - and many reports in England have since emerged detailing that the 23-year old is close to a move to the English champions. The deal could even be officialized in the next 24 hours.
The 4-time Portugal international is expected to cost Liverpool a fee in the region of 40 million euros, though there could be add-ons included in the deal. Jorge Mendes has been mediating the negotiations.
The exit of the UEFA Nations League champion comes as a surprise to many, with most tipping Jota to have another very strong season with Nuno’s Wolves, having scored an impressive 16 goals in 48 appearances for the club last season.
Jota, who has played in the Champions League previously while on the books of FC Porto, is excited by the opportunity to be playing in Europe’s most prestigious club competition once again.
Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever is expected to be moving in the opposite direction for a fee in the region of 12 million euros, according to English reports.
