Pele completes return to Rio Ave
Monaco defensive midfielder Pele has completed a return to Primeira Liga outfit Rio Ave on a season-long loan deal.
The Guinea-Bissau international midfielder has rejoined his former club on his 29th birthday, having previously represented Rio Ave in the 2017-18 season - arguably his most successful season to date.
He played 38 games for Rio Ave that campaign across all competitions, even scoring 7 goals in the process, as Rio Ave achieved an impressive 5th place finish.
Such were his impressive displays that he quickly earned a high-profile move to Monaco in the summer of 2018, although struggled to leave a major impression at the French outfit.
He was therefore loaned out on two occasions, first to Nottingham Forest and then to Reading, both emblems playing in the English Championship.
Rio Ave have the option to make the deal permanent for Pele, who represented Portugal at youth level before switching allegiances to Guinea-Bissau, who he has represented on 9 occasions.
