João Carlos Teixeira departs Vitoria Guimarães
Vitoria Guimarães talent João Carlos Teixeira has said goodbye to the club as he embarks on a new adventure.
The Portuguese attacking midfielder has joined Dutch Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord, managed by Dick Advocaat, on a two-year deal.
The 27-year old has been highly rated in his home country, but has not yet represented Portugal at senior level.
Nevertheless, he had a very strong campaign for Guimaraes last season under the management of Ivo Vieira, scoring 8 goals in 21 league outings, while he also played 5 of Guimaraes’ Europa League qualifying matches, finding the back of the net twice as he helped the club reach the group stage against expectations.
Formerly on the books of Liverpool, Porto and Braga, among others, Teixeira will be hoping to continue his form in the Netherlands, where he joins a club that will be competing in this season’s Europa League.
