Francesco Totti on Roma drawing Porto: "We had some luck"
Roma legend Francesco Totti, one of the Italian club’s representatives at the Champions League draw, has had his say on facing the Portuguese champions.
Speaking in the aftermath of the draw, Totti stated that “When you look at the other team in the draw, you could say that we had some luck.”
“However, we cannot underestimate them. FC Porto have a strong team, they are the leaders in Portugal and they produced a great display in the group stage.”
The other sides Roma could have drawn for the round of 16 were Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and PSG. As such, it is no wonder that Roma are fairly content with the result.
However, Roma themselves are struggling domestically this season, sitting just 6th in the table, a huge 22 points behind reigning champions and current leaders Juventus.
But with a long time until the clash with Porto, Roma have plenty of time to get back on track by the time they face the Portuguese giants.
“It’s two months until February, and I hope we can have the Roma we want by then” the Italian World Cup winner added.
The last time Porto faced Roma was in 2016, when Porto came through 4-1 winners over two legs to qualify for the Champions League group stage.
