After leading Portugal to the Under-19 European Championship, Hélio Sousa is given a new managerial role
Hélio Sousa has been appointed as the new manager of Portugal's under-20s having last month won the U19 European Championship after an enthralling 4-3 final victory over Italy.
The move sees Sousa stay with the same group of players he worked with throughout the previous year, a logical move considering the successful reign he had with them at the lower age group, guiding his young stars to the nation's first ever European victory at U19 level, and he will be hoping he can continue to get the best out of the players as he embarks on the next chapter in his managerial career.
With the likes of João Filipe, Francisco Trincão, João Felix, Ruben Vinagre, Gedson Fernandes and Florentino Luis in this age group, the thought of Sousa finding further success is easy to envisage as Portugal look to take further strides with their latest Golden Generation.
His previous role with the national team has been taken by Filipe Ramos.
