Everton under investigation for illegal approach for Marco Silva - deducted points a possibility
Everton are formally being investigated for what we allegedly an illegal approach for then Watford manager Marco Silva.
The 44-year old Portuguese manager was a top target for the Merseyside club when they sacked former Southampton coach Ronald Koeman just a few weeks into the campaign last season, and Watford reported them for what they claimed was an illegal approach.
As such, the Premier League have opened a formal investigation into the matter, which could, according to The Times, result in a points penalty for Silva's new side, if they are found guilty of wrongdoing. However, the investigation will likely take at least a year, meaning no punishment would come in effect this season.
