Andre Silva leads Sevilla to impressive victory over Real Madrid
Andre Silva found the back of the net twice as Sevilla earned an eyebrow-raising 3-0 victory over the current European champions Real Madrid.
His first goal came in the 17th minute, a poachers effort that was slotted home from around the penalty spot after Sevilla won the ball in Real Madrid's half. Jesus Navas then sprinted away from the defence down the left-hand size, before laying the ball off to Silva, who made no mistake from close range.
Andre Silva then doubled his and Sevilla's tally just 4 minutes later after an excellent, high-tempo counter-attack. Jesus Navas again sprinted with the ball down the wing, this time starting from his own half, before getting into the box, where he took a shot that was matched by Courtois. The Real Madrid keeper could only push the ball back into the danger area though, and Andre Silva managed to get on the end of the rebound, stretching to force the ball goalwards.
Ben Yedder completed the thrashing before half time, poking home a high cross to give Sevilla a comfortable lead heading into the break.
Real Madrid responded well, scoring just after the break, but it was deemed to be offside after a VAR review. From that point forth, both Real Madrid and Sevilla had their fair share of chances, but no further goals came to fruition, and Sevilla earned an unlikely, but ultimately convincing, victory.
