Sergio Conceição and two other Portuguese coaches among those invited to this year's Elite Coaches Forum
Sergio Conceição is one of three Portuguese coaches in attendance at this year's edition of the UEFA Elite Coaches Forum, the 20th edition of the prestigious gathering, held in Nyon.
The meeting is set up in order to bring together some of the best coaches from the continent over the last few seasons, with advancing to the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League one of the possible criteria that needs to be fulfilled in order to get an invitation.
As a result, two other Portuguese managers are also in attendance, with both Paulo Fonseca, manager of Shakhtar Donetsk, and Jose Mourinho, manager of Manchester United, also advancing to the Round of sixteen of Europe's most elite competition last season.
Other ways in which an invitation can be obtained is through reaching at least the semi-final of the Europa League, or by managing in more than 100 Champions League fixtures.
Portugal and Spain are the only two nations to have as many as three representatives at the event, a good indication of the standard of Portuguese managers in football at this point of time, with Spain's coaches being Rafa Benitez (Newcastle), Julen Lopetegui (Real Madrid), and Unai Emery (Arsenal).
The full list of attending managers: Sergio Conceicao (FC Porto), Paulo Fonseca (Shakhtar Donetsk), Jose Mourinho (Manchester United), Rafa Benitez (Newcastle United), Unai Emery (Arsenal), Julen Lopetegui (Real Madrid), Arsene Wenger, Rudi Gracia (Marseille), Massimiliano Allegri (Juventus), Carlo Ancelotti (Napoli), Thomas Tuchel (Paris Saint-Germain), Senol Gunes (Besiktas).
