Emiliano Sala confirmed to be on missing plane
There is serious concern after Emiliano Sala has been confirmed as one of two members on board a small passenger aircraft that disappeared en route to Wales.
Sala, 28, was set to join English Premier League side Cardiff City from FC Nantes for a club record fee 15 million euros, but the plane he is now known to have been travelling on went missing near the Channel Islands late Monday night.
Police have so far been unable to identify the location of the aircraft, although a search is still underway.
His new Welsh club have already expressed “serious concern” about the situation as they await further information as to what has happened.
The Argentinian was one of the top scorers in the French league this season, grabbing 13 goals for his club, only fewer than Kylian Mbappe and Nicolas Pepe.
It is not forgotten in Portugal that, as recently as the 2009-10 season, Sala, who was at the very start of his career, represented Portuguese minnows FC Crato in the Portuguese regional championship.
He scored two goals for the club in just one outing, before then heading to France, joining Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux.
