Miguel Cardoso sacked for the second time this season
Former Rio Ave manager Miguel Cardoso has been fired as manager of Celta de Vigo.
The Portuguese coach only took over the La Liga club in November, but after less than four months in charge of the team, he has been relieved of his duties.
It comes after a string of poor results, which finished with a 1-0 defeat to Eibar at the weekend to leave Celta in 17th in the table, two points above the relegation zone.
Cardoso, it can be remembered, started the season in charge of Nantes, but was fired from his position after just 8 league matches, in which his side only picked up 6 points.
Cardoso has only ever had three first team managerial jobs, having served as Paulo Fonseca assistant at Shakhtar Donetsk in 2016-17 season, holding the same position at the likes of Porto and Sporting before that.
While his last two managerial jobs have been disappointing, his work at Rio Ave has not been forgotten, where he oversaw Rio Ave's greatest ever season, in which they picked up 51 points to finish 5th in the Portuguese top flight.
Ultimately, however, the last two stints as manager will most likely live longest in the memory.
