Porto star duo Alex Telles and Hector Herrera set to leave Porto for the same destination this summer
A mass exodus in the summer for reigning Portuguese champions FC Porto has been anticipated for a while now, and both Hector Herrera and Alex Telles look set to be on the move to the same destination.
Brazilian international Alex Telles, who made his international debut only this month in a 1-1 draw against Panama, has been one of Porto’s star players this season from left-back.
28-year old Hector Herrera has also been a top performer this campaign, captaining the side and playing every single match for the club in both the Champions League and Primeira Liga.
Indeed, across all competitions, the 70-time Mexico international has missed just one of Porto's 46 outings, in a clash with Varzim in the Portuguese League Cup, showing just how instrumental the central midfielder has been to the side.
However, with his contract running out at the end of the season, his exit was very much on the cards, and it looks as though he is set to complete a free transfer to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid this summer.
Alex Telles is then expected to follow Herrera to the Spanish capital, bringing in an anticipated 30 million euros in the process for FC Porto as his contract doesn’t expire until 2021.
Telles, it can be remembered, injured himself while taking a penalty in Porto’s clash with Braga last Saturday, an injury which could see him out of action for the next few weeks.
Hector Herrera joined Porto in 2013, arriving from Mexican outfit Pachuca for 8 million euros, while Telles moved to the Portuguese club from Galatasaray in July 2016.
