Iker Casillas in hospital after suffering heart attack
FC Porto have confirmed that goalkeeper Iker Casillas suffered from a heart attack.
The Porto shot-stopper, who has been with Porto since joining from Real Madrid in 2015, suffered an Acute Myocardial Infarction and was quickly hospitalised and underwent treatment.
He is understood to have been suffering from chest pains while training as usual with the rest of the team before being taken to hospital.
He is now in a stable condition and is not expected to be in any immediate danger.
The former World Cup winner is not expected to feature for Porto again this season as he looks to complete his recovery.
Porto have since tweeted "Always Together! Strength Iker!" while there has also been an outpouring of support from footballers across the country, including Sergio Ramos, Pepe Reina, and Diogo Dalot.
Tennis legend Rafa Nadal was another renowned figure to send a message of support to his compatriot, saying "A big hug to you Iker in this moment. Fuerza Iker."
Casillas and his teammates were training for Porto's next match against Aves as they look to try and keep the pressure on league leaders Benfica.
