Carlos Carvalhal returns to football management after latest appointment
Former Sporting manager Carlos Carvalhal will return to the dugout next season.
Having most recently managed Swansea City, which ended in heartbreak after a rapid resurgence under the Portuguese manager back in 2018, the 53-year old now remarkably embarks upon his 18th managerial job.
Having worked with both Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday in England, Carvalhal now returns to Portugal, being appointed as the new manager of Rio Ave.
It can be remembered that Jose Gomes, who managed Rio Ave at the start of last season, went on to join English outfit Reading and guided them to safety in the most recent campaign.
This is the first time Carvalhal has managed in Portugal since 2010.
Rio Ave finished 7th in the league last season.
