Official: Portugal lineup to face Switzerland as Felix makes debut
Portugal’s starting XI to take on Switzerland has now been confirmed.
There is little surprise in the defensive department with Rui Patricio starting in goal; Pepe and Ruben Dias are the selected centrebacks while Raphael Guerreiro will play at leftback.
There is perhaps some intrigue on the opposite flank though, with Nelson Semedo chosen at right back over Juventus’ Joao Cancelo.
Fernando Santos has perhaps opted for a 4-3-3 formation in the end, with Ruben Neves, William Carvalho and the in-form Bruno Fernandes selected as the trio in midfield.
Up front, Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the starting lineup while Bernardo Silva starts on the right. Joao Felix is also rewarded with a starting berth for his fine form for Benfica.
Alternatively, it could be a 4-4-2, with Bernardo on the right, Bruno Fernandes on the left and Felix and Ronaldo up top.
Santos has notably gone with an attacking lineup as he looks to get more out of a Portugal side that most recently drew against both Ukraine and Serbia.
Portugal XI: Patricio; Semedo, Pepe, Dias, Guerreiro; Neves, William, Bruno Fernandes; Bernardo, Felix, Ronaldo.
