Portugal reveal joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup
The FPF have confirmed that they are looking to organise a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup.
They say that the governments of the two countries will be critical in determining future developments as they continue to analyse the prospect of hosting together
In a statement the FPF said "The Portuguese Football Federation and the Royal Spanish Football Federation have held a series of meetings in recent weeks and confirm that they will jointly initiate a comprehensive review process on the possibility of submitting a joint bid for the organisation of the 2030 World Cup."
Portugal and Spain, it can be remembered, launched a joint bid to host the 2018 World Cup, coming behind Russia having received just 7 votes compared to Russia’s 13.
At one stage, it was anticipated that the bid could be a joint application by Portugal, Spain and Morocco, but it seems that the latter will not be included in the process.
