Sporting president Varandas gives update on the Bruno Fernandes situation
Sporting president Frederico Varandas has been speaking about the current situation with Sporting’s key player.
Fernandes has been widely expected to be leaving the club this summer after a sensational season with the Lisbon club.
As such, he has been linked with a move to several English clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham.
However, no move has yet come to fruition, and some are wondering if the Portuguese international midfielder will actually be moving on this window.
Varandas gave an update to Rádio Observador, where he discussed what the sale of Bruno Fernandes could mean to the club.
“He could be the most expensive sale in Sporting’s history. The most expensive currently is João Mário, for 40 million euros."
Discussing the progress being made about his sale, Varandas suggested that nothing imminent is on the horizon: “There have only been talks for Bruno Fernandes, so far.”
“I can only say that if a player leaves that can earn many millions to Sporting coffers, we will be prepared to attack the market. Always in a sustained way.”
