Sporting manager Keizer "did not know" about potential Bas Dost sale
Sporting manager Marcel Keizer has admitted that he wasn’t aware of the situation regarding the sale of Bas Dost.
Bas Dost is on the vevrge of completing a move to Germany, where he wil joing Bundesliga outit Eintracht Frankfurt for 9 million euros.
However, Keizer has since revealed that he was unaware as to whether Dost would stay or go a the start of the season.
Speaking to journalists who questioned whether he was aware of a potential Dost sale, he said: “I did not know.”
He also suggested that his knowledge of a future Dost sale only came about due to reports from the media, which led him to bring the subject up with the board.
“I read some news, I asked Sporting and they told me yes, Bas Dost could leave. But also he could stay.”
The comments could be of some concern to the Sporting supporters, with it somewhat unclear as to whether he is getting the full backing of the Sporting board.
Dost was a star striker for Sporting upon his arrival at the club in 2016 from Wolfsburg, but his outstanding goalscoring record for the club soon dried up when compatriot Keizer became manager.
