Barcelona set to sign Braga star youngster Francisco Trincão
A member of Braga’s talented group of players is set for a move to one of the giants of world football, with Barcelona looking to bring in 20-year old Trincao.
The fee will be in the region of 30 million euros, the player’s release clause, making Trincao the most expensive ever departure from SC Braga, breaking the record set by Rafa Silva back in 2016, when he joined Benfica for 16 million euros.
The skilful winger has been on the radar of the Spanish club for a long time now, and has been thriving under the management of Ruben Amorim, who has started him in all four league matches since he became manager of the club, bringing him on as a sub in the other two matches he has presided over.
He will sign a long-term contract with Barcelona, which will run until the summer of 2025.
Trincao, who together with Joao Filipe led Portugal to U19 success at the European Championship in the summer of 2018, finishing the tournament as joint top scorer, is widely perceived as one of the next stars of the Portugal national team despite his lack of experience at senior level.
Indeed, despite his minimal professional experience, the right winger has had a significant impact at the club over the last month, his movement and dribbling ability regularly stretching the opposition defence.
Should the move go through, the youngster will remain at Braga until the end of the season on loan as the Minho outfit look to break into the top 3 domestically and progress further in the UEFA Europa League, having already won the League Cup this season.
Superagent Jorge Mendes has been brokering the deal to Barcelona, which would see Trincao becoming the ninth Portuguese player to represent the Spanish giants.
