FC Porto handed tricky draw as they discover their Champions League group stage opponents
The Champions League group stage draw has been conducted, with FC Porto handed a menacing group that also contains Manchester City.
Porto, who went into the draw as a pot 1 side, knew that they would avoid some of the heavyweights of European football such as Liverpool, Bayern Munich and PSG, but still have a difficult task ahead of them as they look to make a run in the Champions League with the club of Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva set to be one of their opponents.
Alongside Manchester City, who came from pot 2, Porto will also face Greek champions Olympiakos, and a resurgent French outfit in Marseille, who were widely seen as the toughest team from pot 4.
The draw also ensures that three of the four sides in the group are managed by Portuguese coaches, with Sergio Conceicao in charge of FC Porto, Pedro Martins the current manager of Olympiakos, and Andre Villas-Boas the head coach of Marseille.
