Cristiano Ronaldo tests positive for Covid-19
Portugal captain and talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive, the Portuguese Football Federation has confirmed.
The 35-year old is currently asymptomatic, but has to go into a period of isolation and will thus miss Portugal’s Nations League clash with Sweden on Wednesday.
All other members of the Portugal squad underwent further tests after Ronaldo’s positive result, but all other tests came back negative. The rest of the squad is therefore available for selection.
The Juventus striker becomes the third Portuguese player to test positive for the coronavirus, after Anthony Lopes and Jose Fonte both had to withdraw from international duty.
