Porto: Champions of Portugal
Porto are this year’s champions of Portugal after a 2-0 victory over Sporting CP.
Porto have sealed the Primeira Liga title with two games to spare, sitting above nearest rivals Benfica by 8 points.
Danilo Pereira and Moussa Marega were the two players that found the back of the net against Sporting, inflicting the first Primeira Liga defeat on Ruben Amorim since he became a top flight manager.
It also means that Porto have secured Champions League football for next season, providing a 40 million euro windfall. Benfica, however, will need to go through two rounds of qualifying to make it to the group stage of Europe’s most illustrious club competition.
