Benfica's Pizzi could be available for 20 million euros

Benfica's Pizzi could be available for 20 million euros

Benfica will be willing to entertain offers upwards of 20 million euros for Portuguese midfielder Pizzi, according to A Bola.

Pizzi, who has represented Portugal 17 times, scoring 4 goals, has been one of the most influential players at Benfica since arriving at the club seven years ago in 2013, and his numbers last season make for impressive reading.

The 30-year old had an exceptional 2019-20 campaign in terms of productivity, scoring 30 goals and assisting 19 in 51 appearances across all competitions, remarkable statistics for the versatile right winger who finished as the Primeira Liga top assister and joint top scorer.

To contribute not only that level of creativity, but that clinical finishing in the opposition area to go with it is quite remarkable, and puts his statistics on par with that of Bruno Fernandes during his time at Sporting CP.

In fact, Pizzi’s record this season not only matches, but surpasses, that extraordinary season from Bruno Fernandes for Sporting in the 2018-19 campaign, when the now-Manchester United midfielder scored an incredible 32 goals, and grabbed a further 18 assists, in 53 games.

It meant that Fernandes directly contributed to one goal every 94 minutes last season; Pizzi, by comparison, directly contributed to a goal every 84 minutes for Benfica in this most recent campaign, which only further illustrates how much of a bargain Pizzi could prove to be for 20 million euros.

A Gestifute client, Pizzi could have a natural advantage to secure a big-money move, with Jorge Mendes representing the Portuguese international, who has proven that he is more than just a one-season wonder.

Indeed, his conversion rate and overall influence on the game has only increased with age, and these last two seasons have been the most remarkable in his career, with the former Atletico Madrid man scoring 45 goals and assisting 42 in 106 games across the last couple of campaigns.

Reports from England have suggested that Tottenham Hotspur and Jose Mourinho are one of the clubs very interested in securing his services.
