Andre Silva completes move to RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig have completed the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt star Andre Silva for a fee of just 23 million euros - a sum that could rise further should certain objectives be completed during his time with the Bundesliga outfit.
The switch represents impressive value for Leipzig, with Andre Silva having just come off a stunning campaign with German rivals Eintracht. His incredible 28 league goals saw him break the previous club record for most goals scored by one player in a single top-flight campaign and ensured he finished the season as the second top scorer in the 2020-21 German Bundesliga, with only Robert Lewandowski managing to net more.
To complete the signing of a player who had previously been linked with the likes of Manchester City and had tentatively been given a much higher valuation for an upfront fee of around £20million is therefore quite the coup, particularly with Silva having already proven himself an incredibly effective striker in the German top flight.
The 25-year old said, upon joining the Bundesliga runners-up: “I’m really excited for the new challenge at RB Leipzig. The club have big goals and ambitions and I really want to help them achieve those, ideally by scoring as many goals as possible.”
“I want to play at the highest level in the Champions League and I can do that regularly here. I’m already excited to get going.”
