Porto clinch impressive point away to the La Liga champions
Porto’s Champions League campaign got off to a solid start, with Conceicao’s side securing a point against Atletico Madrid after playing out a 0-0 draw.
Porto showed their Champions League experience to match their Spanish opponents, and may have felt that they even did enough to win it.
Indeed, Mehdi Taremi managed to bundle the ball into the back of the net late on after capitalising on an Atletico Madrid error, but saw it disallowed after the ball brushed off his hand just before crossing the line.
Porto also felt they should have had a penalty in the first half for a strong challenge on Zaidu, and also hit the post in the second 45 minutes too.
Fans will likely be content with the result though, which keeps their hopes of progressing to the round of 16 in an incredibly competitive group - which also contains Liverpool and AC Milan - alive.
