Nottingham Forest in negotiations with Benfica for Odysseas Vlachodimos
English Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest are in negotiations with Benfica over the signing of Odysseas Vlachodimos.
The Benfica goalkeeper has recently fallen out with manager Roger Schmidt and has been omitted from the Benfica squad for the last two fixtures after a sub-par performance in the opening game of the season, which ended in a shock 2-3 defeat to Boavista.
The Greek international has since been linked with a move away from the club, and Nottingham Forest, who already signed goalkeeper Matt Turner this season, are the latest side to show concrete interest in the 29-year old.
Nottingham Forest have proposed a fee of 6 million euros for his services - but Benfica have been holding out for 10 million. His release clause is 60 million euros.
Vlachodimos has been a long-serving figure at Benfica and their number one goalkeeper for several years, but has always expressed an interest in playing in the English Premier League.
Manchester United are the other English outfit who have been linked with a move for Odysseas in recent days, but no concrete proposal has materialised.
Forest have also been linked with Wolves and Portugal goalkeeper Jose Sa in recent times.
It appears unlikely that Vlachodimos will ever be able to play for Benfica again.
