The foreign club "more talked about in Portugal than Benfica, Porto and Sporting"

There are a lot of talking points outside of the Portuguese Primeira Liga that are still of great interest for fans of the Portuguese game to indulge in.

With Portuguese contingents emerging across the continent, there’s a lot to keep an eye on and take a vested interest in.

However, in typically hyperbolic and tongue-in-cheek manner, one man felt that the limelight he and his side have been receiving goes above and beyond what he experienced when managing in Portugal.

Jorge Jesus, now manager of Brazilian outfit Flamengo, highlighted the point that the spotlight being given to his work in Brazil from the Portuguese media is perhaps at least somewhat excessive.

“This game [against Madureira, which Flamengo won 3-1] was broadcast by two Portuguese channels” the 64-year old former Benfica and Sporting coach said.

“At the moment, Flamengo is being talked about more in Portugal than Benfica, Sporting and FC Porto.”

Jesus only joined Flamengo at the start of this month, having stepped down as manager of Saudi side Al-Hilal in January.

His compatriot and former Portugal international Fabio Coentrao is one player that could follow Jesus to the Brazilian club, Coentrao having played under the Portuguese manager at both Benfica and Sporting prior to this season.
