Ruben Dias has been speaking to Sport TV about his future in the wake of Benfica’s 5-0 demolition of Sporting in the Portuguese Super Cup.
The Portuguese international has been linked with a move to the English Premier League in recent weeks, and with the English transfer window rapidly coming to an end, time to secure his signature is now running out.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have been one club linked with his acquisition over recent weeks according to English media, while Manchester United have been another club to have shown interest in his signature in recent times, though their signing of Harry Maguire for close to 90 million euros has made a move for the 11-time Portuguese international unlikely.
Manchester City are another club to have been linked with Dias over the summer, though they are yet to make an official bid for the Benfica defender.
With his future the source of significant speculation since the transfer window opened, Ruben Dias has had his say on his future, stating in no uncertain terms that his thoughts are on nothing but Benfica.
“I think that, at this level, with quality, it is normal to have speculation. I deal with it in a normal way.”
“I am focused on where I am now, I must always be focused on wherever I am. I have a contract until 2024 - we all know that it is not the number of years that guarantee anything, but it doesn’t make me uncertain, because I have my head here [at Benfica].”
Ruben Dias was one of Portugal’s stand-out performers during the UEFA Nations League last month, a tournament which Portugal ultimately won.
