Sporting sign Brazilian striker Phellype, as Porto bring in Fernando
Sporting have completed the signing of in-form Brazilian striker Luiz Phellype.
The striker, who was playing for Pacos de Ferreirain the second division of Portuguese football this season, has been in great form so far this campaign, bagging himself 6 goals in 12 league appearances, as well as chipping in with 2 assists from his advanced starting position.
His goals have been instrumental in leading the club to first place in the Segunda Liga, meaning that they are well on their way to earning immediate promotion back into the top flight of the national game.
The 25-year old striker now joins the attacking trio of Bas Dost, Fredy Montero and Abdoulaye Diaby at the club.
Meanwhile, Porto have also made a new signing, bringing in Santa Clara forward Fernando.
Santa Clara have been the surprise package of the season so far, the newly-promoted outfit currently occupying 8th in the top flight having earned an impressive 3-3 draw against Braga earlier in the campaign, and pushed both Sporting and Porto to the end in valiant defeats (both finished 2-1).
And Fernando has certainly impressed over the past few months, featuring in all but 2 of their league matches since the season kicked off, and has already found the back of the net 3 times, contributing with a further 3 assists.
