Fabio Cardoso has become the latest Santa Clara recruit after the 24-year old centreback terminated his contract with Scottish Premier League outfit Rangers.

Cardoso, who played 12 league matches for Rangers last season, has been capped for Portugal at U20 level on four occasions, and returns to the Primeira Liga after spells at Paços de Ferreira and Vitoria Setubal.

The former Benfica academy product has played in the Primeira Liga on 61 occasions, and takes with him much-needed experience for the newly-promoted Azores-based side.
