PSV to bid 20 million euros for Benfica teenage star

PSV are to bid 20 million euros for one of Benfica’s most exciting academy products, according to A Bola.

The Dutch club are targeting 17-year old Umaro Embalo, and is believed to be an offer of 15 million euros up front and a further 5 million if certain objectives are achieved by the youngster once he arrives at the club.

The forward, who can play both up front or on the wing, has represented Portugal at every youth level from U16 to U19, and has an impeccable record for his country.

He has, across 48 international youth matches, scored 25 goals for the nation, his most productive campaign coming for the U17s, where he netted 16 in 27 matches.

This season, he played 6 of Benfica’s UEFA Youth League matches, scoring once and assisting a further 3 goals, and has even turned out for the Benfica B team on 3 occasions this campaign as well.

Embalo is no doubt one of the most exciting players in the world in his age category, and it is no wonder that he is attracting interest from abroad.

It can be recalled that RB Leipzig were looking to sign the talented Benfica forward when he was just 16-years old in January of last year, willing to part with 20 million euros to snap him up.

However, the deal eventually fell through and he ultimately remained at Benfica.

It remains to be seen whether Benfica will contemplate selling one of their prize youngsters or if they’ll look to keep hold of him for a few seasons first.
