Bas Dost completes move away from Sporting CP
Sporting CP striker Bas Dost has left the club after three seasons in Portugal.
Dost arrived at the Lisbon outfit back in 2016 from German outfit Wolfsburg for a fee in the region of 12 million euros, and immediately had a huge impact at the club, quickly estbalishing himself as one of the stars of the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
Indeed, in his first season in Portugal, he found the back of the net 34 times in 31 league games, an outrageous return that illustrates just how big an impact the Dutch striker had on the team.
Across all three seasons, he netted 76 goals in 84 league games - and 93 goals in 127 outings across all competitions - making him one of the most prolific strikers to ever set foot on Portuguese soil.
And yet the 30-year old striker, now in the prime of his career, moves on for less than Sporting paid for him three years ago, returning to Germany to join Eintracht Frankfurt for just 7 million euros.
Capped 18 times for The Netherlands, some sections of the fans are understandably disappointed to see him go for such a low fee, though his departure does reduce the wage bill considerably.
Sporting currently sit top of the Portuguese league table after three games, with 7 points in the bag. Only Famalicao have as many points as Sporting in the league standings.
