Vitoria Guimarães recruit Golden Boy 2020 nominee from AS Monaco
Vitoria Guimaraes have completed the signing of AS Monaco’s 19-year old forward Lyle Foster on a five year contract.
The striker spent most of last season on loan at Belgian top flight outfit Cercle Brugge, though played twice for Monaco before making the temporary move to Belgium.
In total, he played in 18 games for Cercle Brugge, but only managed to find the back of the net on one occasion as his side finished third from bottom with just 23 points from 29 games before the season was brought to a premature end due to the coronavirus.
Despite the less than spectacular season, Foster is a highly rated player, and was even nominated for the prestigious Golden Boy award this year alongside star youngsters such as Haaland and Ansu Fati. Joao Felix was the winner of the award last year.
The South African forward, who has already represented his country at U23 level, began his career at the reputable Orlando Pirates, and was named one of the 60 most promising young players in the world by English outlet The Guardian.
