Jackson Martinez leaves Portimonense, future remains open
Former Porto star Jackson Martinez has departed Portimonense after spending two seasons at the Portuguese Primeira Liga club.
After a strong first season at Portimonense whilst on loan from Guangzhou Evergrande, scoring 9 goals and assisting 3 for the Algarve club as he helped them to a solid 12th place finish, he has just come off a very disappointing season, which reflects the struggles that the club had as a whole this campaign.
The 33-year old managed to find the back of the net 3 times across 2019-20, though did captain the side on a handful of occasions.
Despite a poor season, the experienced striker, who has represented Colombia 40 times, scoring 8 goals, comes with a significant reputation, having scored 92 goals in 136 games for FC Porto, earning him a 40 million euro move to Atletico Madrid.
