A new English club are interested in Benfica's Alfa Semedo
Having spent last season on loan in the English Championship, Alfa Semedo may be returning to the country again for the upcoming campaign.
Semedo, who Benfica signed from Moreirense in 2018, was on the books of Nottingham Forest last campaign, scoring 2 goals in 26 outings across all competitions.
The Guinea-Bissau born footballer, who is eligible to represent Portugal, made a tremendous start to his time at Forest, with many fans impressed by his exploits from midfield, though he soon fell out of favour and was regularly left out of the match day squad.
However, with Semedo not in the plans of Benfica manager Jorge Jesus for the upcoming campaign, the 23-year old, who has a 60 million euro release clause, is expected to be loaned out again.
This time, it appears that Reading FC, the club that was previously managed by Jose Gomes and has Lucas Joao as their star striker, is the most likely destination, with reports from England indicating that the Championship side are set to make a move for the defensive midfielder.
Semedo had previously been linked with a move to Preston North End, and a move was thought to be close, but the deal has not materialised, opening the door for Reading to move in.
