FC Porto identify potential left back target as they plan for life without Alex Telles
FC Porto are considering a move for Rio Ave left back Matheus Reis as they prepare for a future without Manchester United target Alex Telles.
Reis, 25, has been on the books of Rio Ave since 2018, and has played in 65 games across all competitions for the Portuguese outfit across two seasons.
The Brazilian, who has just one year remaining on his contract, is known to be a top target for Greek giants Olympiakos, but Reis may prefer a move to the Portuguese champions instead.
Reis played the full 90 minutes of Rio Ave’s crucial Europa League qualifier against Bosnian outfit Borac Banja Luka, which Rio Ave won 0-2, but was left out of the side’s matchday squad for their opening league game of the season against Tondela, which Rio Ave drew 1-1 thanks to a very late equaliser from Ryotaro Meshino.
Alex Telles is widely expected to leave the club this window, with his contract also coming to an end in the summer of 2021. Porto are therefore very keen to cash in on him while they still can, and are asking for a fee in the region of 25 million euros.
Manchester United are currently in deep discussions to sign the Brazilian, and are expected to eventually reach a deal with Porto that will see the Porto star follow Bruno Fernandes from Portugal to Manchester.
