Florentino Luis has already traveled for medicals ahead of loan move to Monaco
Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis has already travelled to complete medical examinations ahead of a season-long loan abroad.
There has been much interest in signing the 21-year old this window, with AC Milan and Fulham among the interested clubs, but it is AS Monaco that are to loan in the Portugal U21 international in the coming 48 hours.
Though Jorge Jesus is a fan of the defensive midfielder, Benfica’s stacked squad ensured that game time would be hard to come by, and a loan was a good fit for all parties for Florentino to continue his development.
The loan will cost Monaco a fee in the region of 2 million euros in total, while there is no option to make the transfer permanent, which is something Fulham were very keen on including in any potential deal.
Fulham, according to reports in Portugal, made an offer to loan Luis for an initial 2 million euros, with a mandatory purchase clause of 30 million euros.
Florentino Luis has a contract with Benfica that runs until 2024, containing a release clause of 120 million euros.
