Transfer Roundup: Vincent Aboubakar leaves Porto, Fabio Martins exits Braga, Tabata set to depart Portimonense, and more
Much transfer activity has taken place over the last couple of days, with the likes of Vincent Aboubakar and Fabio Martins finding new clubs.
Porto’s target man Aboubakar completed a return to Besiktas for an undisclosed fee, the 28-year old officially unveiled at the Turkish club.
The Cameroonian international represented Besiktas in the 2016-17 season during a loan spell from the Portuguese champions, scoring 19 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions, including against Benfica in an epic comeback in the Champions League, where Besiktas trailed 3-0 but turned the game around to earn a point, with Aboubakar getting the leveller.
Meanwhile, Braga talent Fabio Martins, who was so impressive out on loan at Famalicao last season, has completed a move away from the club - and out of Europe too.
Martins, who signed a contract extension until 2023 with Braga before making the move, joins Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Shabab on a season-long loan.
Portimonense star Bruno Tabata is also on the move this window, although will not be travelling quite as far in his search for a new club.
With both Braga and Sporting vying for the signature of the 23-year old winger, it is set to be the latter that will win the race for the Brazilian, expected to spend just 5 million euros to recruit Tabata, with Portimonense then keeping hold of 50% of his economic rights.
Tabata signs for the Lisbon outfit on a 5-year contract, having reportedly already completed his medical with the club.
There is then news with Sporting’s Joao Palhinha, who has been heavily linked with a move away from the Lisbon outfit. Sporting have been demanding 15 million euros for his services, while the player has been very keen on securing a move to England, but with no suitable offers yet in place, there is a strong possibility that Palhinha will remain at the club.
With only 10 days remaining in the transfer window, time is running out for the defensive midfielder to secure a move that will suit all parties.
In other high-profile news, Benfica’s Ruben Dias is heading to England to complete his big-money move to Manchester City for a fee that can reach as high as 70 million euros - though Otamendi moves in the opposite directino for 15 million, meaning Benfica will, overall, make 55 million euros from the sale.
