Portugal drop to seventh in FIFA World Rankings
Portugal have slipped down three places to seventh in the latest world rankings after being knocked out in the Round of 16 at the World Cup last month.
The sides to rise above Portugal are World Cup runners-up Croatia, who are up an impressive fourteen places to 4th in the table, Uruguay, the side to knock Portugal out of the World Cup after their 2-1 victory, and England, who are up to sixth after their run to the World Cup semi-final.
France have moved up such places to claim the top spot, while previous leaders Germany have dropped 14 places to 15th after a disastrous World Cup campaign that saw them exit at the group stage.
Meanwhile, Belgium and Brazil switch places to become 2nd and 3rd respectively, while Switzerland, Spain and Denmark round off the top 10.
Portugal had been 4th in the league for several months, but after a less than spectacular run in the World Cup, their ranking has significantly reduced.
Portugal's highest ever ranking has been third place, a space they have occupied several times over the last decade, but are yet to break into the top 2, despite their European Championship victory in 2016.
