Nuno Espirito Santo focuses on the job at hand - and refuses to be drawn into speculation linking him away from club
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo denied any rumours linking him away from Wolves, and made it clear that his only focus is on his current role and he only looks at things on a “day by day” basis.
Nuno, having been questioned about the reported interest from Manchester United to appoint him as manager as successor to compatriot Jose Mourinho, said: “You know me, I don’t talk about this. This is not the time to even think about it. I totally ignore that, I totally ignore it.”
The former Porto boss was further questioned about whether he had any aspiration to one day coach at that level, to which he replied “I don’t do [it] like that. I go on a daily basis. I know what I have to do [on Saturday]; to prepare the boys well and prepare the team for a tough game against Burnley. This is the way I look at the future, take it day by day.”
Refusing to publicly discuss his future and not allowing himself to be drawn into speculation reaffirms his commitment to Wolverhampton Wanderers, having only last week in another press conference stated how much he is enjoying life at the West Midlands club.
“For me, [Wolves] is another big club. More than coaching in Premier League or Championship, I enjoy coaching Wolverhampton Wanderers, Wolves. This is my club, you understand?”
“I take care of the team but the club want big things, and requires a lot of energy from all of us to want to build something and create an identity, that is the most important thing.
