Porto star striker Vincent Aboubakar out for rest of the season
Porto’s Cameroonian forward Vincent Aboubakar could be facing several months on the sidelines after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.
The 26-year old striker underwent successful surgery on his knee as a result of the injury sustained in Porto’s narrow victory over Tondela this previous weekend, but will still require a lengthy period of time away from the pitch to fully recover.
Aboubakar scored 15 goals in the Primeira Liga last season as he helped Porto regain the league title, while he has also already bagged himself 4 league goals in 6 games this campaign. Being an important player for the team, his lengthy absence will no doubt be a significant blow to Porto’s chances of retaining the domestic crown.
Having scored 5 goals in the Champions League last season, his fire power on the European stage will also be greatly missed, with Porto’s next match being against Galatasaray on Wednesday in Europe’s most illustrious club competition.
