CONFIRMED: Rui Vitoria completes move to Saudi Arabia
Recently dismissed Benfica manager Rui Vitoria has joined Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr.
Vitoria had been linked with the Middle Eastern club for several months now, and his dismissal on Thursday had accelerated the process.
The Portuguese manager was also reportedly very willing to step down from his position as Benfica manager, potentially due to the intense interest in his services from Al-Nassr.
It is understood that Rui Vitoria will be earning approximately 7.5 million euros over the course of his one and a half year contract with the club, a vast increase in salary when compared to what he was earning at the Lisbon club.
One may recall that Al-Nassr are the team that fellow Portuguese manager Leonardo Jardim was widely expected to be joining earlier in the month, even pictured watching one of the team’s matches live in the King Fahd stadium.
However, he eventually turned down the position, thought to be awaiting an offer from a Premier League club instead.
Al-Nassr currently sit 2nd in the league table, 3 points behind Al-Hilal, who are currently managed by ex-Benfica manager Jorge Jesus.
Vitoria and Jesus will lock horns of the 29th March, when the two teams meet in what could be a title decider.
