15 years old with a 50 million euro release clause - one of Porto's stars of the future
There's been a lot of talk about the quality in Benfica's youth team in recent weeks, but Porto are indicating that they too have strong options coming through their academy.
And today, O Jogo reports that 15-year old David Vinhas has signed a professional contract the Portuguese champions, keeping him at the club until 2022.
The deal includes a 50 million euro release clause, providing clear evidence of how highly regarded the centreback is in Porto.
In fact, 50 million euros was the absolute highest valuation Porto were able to give a player of his age, and they may have gone even higher had the laws allowed.
Vinhas started out at Aves and moved to Guimarães in 2013, but then joined Porto when he was just 13 years old at the start of 2017.
He has already represented Portugal at U15 and U16 level, playing 8 youth matches for his country in total.
While we may have a few years to wait until we get to see him play for the senior side, Vinhas is another player to keep a close eye on.
