Benfica promote another youth player to senior team for Europa League clash with Zagreb
Benfica have moved yet another one of their academy players to the main side for the upcoming match against Dinamo Zagreb.
Benfica have already seen several players promoted to the senior team this campaign, including the likes of João Felix, Gedson Fernandes, Ferro, Florentino Luis, Yuri Ribeiro and João Filipe, and they are already adding to that lengthy list.
The latest name to step up to the senior side is Nuno Santos, the 19-year old attacking midfielder who has impressed for the Benfica B side this season.
He also did well in the UEFA Youth League, getting 5 goals in 7 outings.
His versatility is also a strength, able to play on either wing or centrally, even able to operate as a second striker as well.
While he is unlikely to start the next match, he could feature in part, with manager Bruno Lage regularly utilising his younger options in the Europa League.
It is anticipated that the likes of Ruben Dias, Ferro, Yuri Ribeiro, Gedson Fernandes, Florentino Luis and João Felix will play, with both João Filipe and Nuno Santos starting on the bench.
