Benfica star youngster wanted by European giants to sign new deal with astronomical release clause
Benfica teenage star Florentino Luis is set to sign a new contract with the club.
The 19-year old has reached an agreement with Benfica to renew his contract until 2024.
Having been attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including PSG and Manchester City, Benfica have been hoping to increase his 60 million euro release clause - and they are set to succeed.
Indeed, his buy-out clause is now set to double - increasing to an astronomical total of 120 million euros, the same release clause that Joao Felix had.
His overall wage is also set to increase significantly, by approximately five times in comparison to what he was previously earning; according to A Bola, he will now be earning 500,000 euros per season.
Florentino is expected to be an integral part of Benfica’s team next season, having become part of the senior team midway through last season under the management of Bruno Lage.
In total, he played 11 league games last season, including the final 7 of the campaign.
While he is yet to make his debut for the senior national team, Florentino has represented Portugal 16 times at U20 level.
