Jorge Mendes now involved in Bruno Fernandes dealings as Premier League window approaches an end
There are just 7 days of the summer transfer window remaining for English Premier League clubs, and there are a couple of potential departures from the Portuguese league that still need to be resolved.
The one at the top of that list is undoubtedly Bruno Fernandes; the Sporting midfielder’s future has been in doubt ever since the summer transfer window opened, and a move to England has long seemed inevitable.
And yet, with just one week left for English clubs to act, there has been little progress with regards to Bruno Fernandes’ movement.
Sporting are very much open to selling their 24-year old skipper, looking to accumulate hefty funds to help out with their financial situation, but no club has come close to meeting president Varandas’ demands. Things will therefore have to progress rather quickly if we are to see Bruno Fernandes get his dream move to England for the 2019-20 campaign.
However, hopes of fans of the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham of signing Portugal’s top performing player of last season are certainly not over, and the fact that Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes is getting involved in proceedings means that a move could finally find a resolution that all parties can agree upon.
Spurs most recently put a bid in for the Portuguese international, but their offer of 40 million euros failed to even come close to Sporting’s demands, and therefore was swiftly rejected. Whether they will follow up on that offer with a better proposal remains to be seen, but a move to England is still on the cards.
There is also the matter of Ruben Dias’ future which will be resolved over the coming days; remaining at Benfica seems a real possibility, though if a club were to trigger his release clause in the next week, he will have a decision to make.
