Fabio Coentrão returns to professional football having been a free agent for over a year
Former Portugal international Fabio Coentrão has finally returned to professional football after spending no fewer than 464 days as a free agent.
One year, 3 months and 6 days after his contract with Rio Ave came to an end without renewal in June 2019, Coentrao has now completed another return to the club of his youth, signing for Rio Ave for the upcoming season.
The 32-year old, who has previously represented the likes of Real Madrid, Benfica and Monaco, has played for Portugal 52 times, his last appearance for his country coming in 2017.
The left back played 21 matches for Rio Ave in the 2018-19 campaign, amassing a total of 1,970 minutes, as he provided 5 assists across all competitions.
