Barcelona's asking price for Nelson Semedo revealed as Jorge Mendes facilitates potential move
Barcelona are open to selling Portuguese international right back Nelson Semedo in the upcoming window - but only for the right price.
Semedo, 26, is contracted to Barcelona until 2022, but despite opening contract negotiations to extend his stay at the Spanish club for a further three years back in February, renewing his contract beyond this date is no longer a priority for the Barcelona hierarchy, according to Spanish publication Sport.
Despite having once been deemed indispensible by the Spanish giants, it appears that, amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, Barcelona’s position regarding the availability of Semedo has shifted, and he could now be sold sooner rather than later.
Though there’s still a strong possibility that the 18-time international will remain with the Catalan club for the upcoming season, many clubs have shown interest in the former Benfica right back, and Jorge Mendes is said to be confident that a move away from Barcelona is possible.
Looking at the possibilities available to his client, Jorge Mendes enquired the fee which would be considered acceptable by Barcelona. The answer? 45 million euros, as stated by Sport.
With an affordable price tage and clubs in both England and Italy showing significant interest in the services of Nelson Semedo, a move away from the Camp Nou is feasible, particularly with Jorge Mendes involved.
Today, Sky Sports reported that Barcelona have offered Nelson Semedo as part of a deal for Tottenham’s Tanguy Ndombele, unable to afford to pay for the Tottenham midfielder due to the current financial impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Other clubs that have been linked with a move for Nelson Semedo include Juventus, Inter Milan, the Manchester clubs and Atletico Madrid, though the list of interested parties is likely far more extensive than this.
